However, the terms such as ‘diagnosis’, ‘treatment’, ‘therapy’, or ‘prescription [formula]” used in aromatherapy are distinct from those practised in conventional medicine or Traditional Chinese Medicine (CTM). Aromatherapy has its scope and limitations and its effects vary between individuals. The aromatherapist at Nes Aroma Lab (hereinafter referred to as ‘the Therapist’) must never exaggerate or guarantee the outcomes of aromatherapy.
  2. Aromatherapy cannot substitute conventional medical services or pharmaceutical treatments. If a client has concerns about physical or psychological conditions, the Therapist must advise and encourage them to seek assistance from qualified medical professionals.
  3. The practice of aromatherapy must be grounded in modern medical, biomedical, and scientific knowledge, including human anatomy, physiology, pathology, essential oil chemistry and its pharmacological properties. Non-scientific approaches such as supernatural, spiritual, religious, esoteric or folk traditions may only be offered as reference of interest outside of holistic therapy.
  4. All clients who consult the Therapist are to be treated equally, regardless of gender, age, race, nationality, religious belief, social class or status.
  5. The Therapist may provide services to individuals under the age of 16. However a signed consent form from a parent or legal guardian is required prior to the commencement of treatment.
  6. All client information must remain confidential, unless disclosure is necessary due to imminent risk to the life or safety of the client or others.
  7. The Therapist has the responsibility to clearly explain the treatment procedures and any applicable fees.
  8. Unless through phone or video, the Therapist shall not offer aromatherapy advice to third parties who are not physically present, without explicit consent from those involved.
  9. If the client is currently under prescribed medical treatment, the Therapist shall not interfere (suggesting medication adjustments or cessation). The Therapist must take note of any contraindications associated with essential oil use.
  10. The Therapist must respect the client’s perspectives regarding health management, conventional medicine and alternative therapies.
  11. The Therapist must safeguard the dignity and well-being of the client, and serve with a mission of promoting health and well-being.
